Swatantra Foundation in association with Rajaji Centre for Public Affairs organised a function on 8th December, 2019 to celebrate the 141st Birth Anniversary of Poojya. C. Rajagopalachari, Freedom Fighter, Independent India’s Last Indian Governor General, Premier of Madras during 1937-1939 and from 1952-1954, Intellectual, Statesman, Writer and Speaker.

Rajaji was a multi faceted personality. As a freedom fighter and reformer – together with Mahathma Gandhi ji – Rajaji worked against untouchability & castism. Rajaji implemented prohibition first in India, even before independence.

His contribution to literature too is very important. Rajaji’s “Chakravarathi Thirumagan” – a book on Ramayan – was the bese seller during his time.

C. Rajagopalachari was the first recipient of the Bharat Ratna in the year 1954.

To create awareness on the great services rendered by C. Rajagopalachari –on whose memory both the Swatantra Foundation & Rajaji Centre for Public Affaris were formed – we are celebrating his birth anniversary function every year.

In the year 2019 Thiru. Banwarilal Purohit, Honourable Governor of Tamil Nadu presided over the function as the Chief Guest and spoke. [The Tamil Nadu Rajbhavan Press Release can be found below]. During the function we have organised an essay competition for school children on the topics “Freedom Fighters & their Contribution”.
